For the third consecutive year, Xerox earned a spot on G.I. Jobs® magazine’s list of Military Friendly® Employers. The list features companies that boast the strongest job opportunities, hiring practices and retention programs for transitioning service members and spouses seeking civilian employment.

“Xerox has a strong commitment to military recruitment – it’s one of the many ways we cultivate diversity throughout the organization,” said Christine Stewart, diversity and inclusion manager at Xerox.  “We have a long history and focused programs that encourage veterans to apply for positions throughout the company.”

For example, in 2013, we joined the Veteran Jobs Mission, a coalition of companies committed to the hiring,

retention and development of veterans and military spouses in the private sector. With more than 200 member companies like Xerox, the coalition has collectively hired nearly 300,000 veterans – almost three times the organization’s original commitment of 100,000 in 2011. Moreover, Xerox is proud to be part of the coalition’s new commitment to hire 1 million veterans.

Xerox supports this cause through our pledge to hire 10,000 veterans by 2018 for the White House’s Joining Forces initiative.  A Xerox program supporting this commitment is Virtual Office, which offers remote job opportunities to veterans and other candidates so they can work from the comfort of their own home. Our participation in a variety of career fairs also provides transitioning servicemen and women direct contact with Xerox recruiters.

Fran Quinones, director of quality programs for services at Xerox, is a military veteran and one of 8,000-plus U.S. employees who form part of the Xerox Virtual Office program. Joining Xerox in December 2014 to help build a process-improvement structure for Xerox service offerings, she also volunteers as one of 40 military-veteran employees who work alongside the Xerox Talent Acquisition and Staffing teams to expand veteran recruitment efforts and resources.

Fran knows first-hand the drive, commitment and versatility military veterans bring to the workforce and how this can positively contribute to business goals. After dedicating more than 22 years to the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps, she transitioned to civilian life in 2002 and dedicated part of her early civilian career to recruiting. In addition to assisting Xerox with recruiting and onboarding processes, Fran champions a Xerox Yammer group where Xerox veteran employees can network and collaborate.

“I was initially drawn to Xerox’s diverse career opportunities and remote work positions,” Quinones said. “I have found that Xerox is committed to providing a great workplace for all employees. Xerox has provided diverse avenues to determine my own successful career path, including learning and collaboration through Xerox Services University, networking and the opportunity to help other veterans transition to civilian careers.”
