If you type the words “How to” into an Internet search engine, you will see multiple options appear to complete the phrase. In today’s tech-savvy world, the path to learning how to do anything is just a few keystrokes away.  But some things require more.  Some processes cannot be done easily, or quickly.  They seem too complicated, too new.  Too important.  I would think changing the way your company’s business processes are completed would fall into this category, but it doesn’t have to be that way.

“Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember.  Involve me and I learn” – Benjamin Franklin

The automation journey is a collaborative one, with the intent that we work together from start to finish to achieve the desired goals. Robotics Process Automation (RPA) has proven to have cost-saving end results with improved efficiencies and quality.  But, how do you get there?   Allow me to provide an overview of what the process can look like.

Step One: Identify

At Xerox, automation and process engineering is in our DNA.  Our approach is a holistic and strategic one, because we are able to couple our expertise in business process outsourcing with our automation capabilities. In this step, we will work with you to understand your company’s overall operational landscape and which specific processes you identify as for improvement.  In addition, we can indicate even more areas that, based on our years of experience, can also profit from RPA.  This research is key in determining how your company can best benefit from robotic process automation.

Step Two: Planning & Development

The Xerox® Automation Suite was created from decades of research and development experience. We have

several successful implementation models from which we can draw best practices. Once we understand the current state of your organization’s business processes, and what the goals are, our dedicated team of solution architects and RPA professionals can work with you to design, and implement, the right process automation to best suit the needs of your team.

Step Three: Implementation

The processes best suited for automation have been selected. The new workflow, whether solely robotic or a combination of humans and RPA, has been designed.  A Business Process Manager  orchestrates all of the software robots.  The Xerox Case Management tool presents a streamlined user interface that monitors, reports and controls in real-time.  Maybe you decide to start small and test one business process function first.  After you see how much faster, accurate and reliable the RPA software bots are than your current operations, the more confident you will be.  As will your shareholders.

Step Four: Results

You will be surprised by how quickly you see a difference in productivity. Robotic process automation delivers larger margins, around the clock availability and improved quality.  Meanwhile, your remaining staff is able to be redeployed to pursue higher value roles within the organization.  Now, you are ready to take it to the next level and see how RPA can help your organization’s broader goals.

At Xerox, the services we offer are injected with innovation, efficiency and quality and our automation capabilities bear that out. Obviously, this is a high-level look at what can essentially be a transformation of how your organization does business today. It is not something that can be learned in one blog post.  A deeper dive will involve a much longer conversation with some give and take.  It’s a conversation I believe is worth having.

Xerox Automation Services allow us to deliver improved productivity, quality and reduced costs to your operations while allowing your staff to focus on higher value business processes.
